In a recent development, fish harvesters from the Port au Port Peninsula have raised alarms over the potential adverse effects of World Energy GH2’s upcoming wind-hydrogen initiative in the vicinity.

A protest took place at Confederation Building this past Friday, where local inhabitants demanded enhanced measures to counteract potential environmental fallout.

Katie Power, associated with the FFAW as the Energy Industry Liaison, reveals that apprehensions from the area’s harvesters have reached her ears.

According to Power, neither World Energy GH2 nor any governmental bodies have approached the union for discussions regarding the said venture.

She highlighted multiple issues listed within the company’s extensive 4,000-page environmental review. Key worries include the repercussions of dredging on lobster fishing zones, increased marine traffic, and the release of substances into aquatic environments. Power emphasized that they have yet to receive a platform to voice their queries and concerns about these matters.
